Clean, Simple, Metallic.
Jil Sander was founded by Jil Sander in Hamburg, Germany before later developing into one of the world's most recognised labels. The F/W 2012 collection was designed by Raf Simons who was handed the job of creative director in 2005. From 2005 onwards, Simons continued to amaze the world by his critically acclaimed creativity within design. More known for his work with Dior, Raf Simons is one of the worlds most internationally influential designers. Sadly, the fall 2012 collection was to be his last as creative director for Jil Sander but remains as creative director for Dior today.
Many aspects of this collection drew my attention. Largely, the colour scheme of this collection is beautiful. Candy pinks, warm reds, navy blues and greens all work together to compliment each other. Metallic textures and soft cashmeres soften the collection by balancing both the cool and warm colours.
The simple design and detail throughout this collection add a modern sophistication. One detail I love is the use of contrasting colours for the inner and outer lining of the coats. The contrasting colours add a subtle detail to the coats whilst the design is largely simple. The classic mix of navy and pastel colours work together harmoniously and help to unify the collection. Whilst the form of many of the garments are stiff, it is balanced by softly draped materials.
The shoes in the collection are also a standout piece in itself. Sharp structures and lines are used, adding a sporty yet feminine detail. The sharp lines and structure add a sleek finish to the collection whilst the garments are softly draped. The design of the heels contrast against the classic design of the garments. The use of neon and pastel colours widen the colour range yet work together cohesively. To put it simply, I just generally love everything about these shoes.
Like I said in my last Collection Archive, I advise you research more into this collection as it is a stunning collection of work.
