10 July 2014

Well

It has been a long time since I did a post, and seeing as it is the holidays, and I have a lot of spare time, I thought it was right that I would make one.

I am a lazy person. I know that, my family knows that, so pretty much it's a well known fact about me. Getting my laptop and writing up a post just felt like something I couldn't do/couldn't be bothered  to do for a while. I was stuck on what to post and I felt as if I lost my passion for a while. After over a month of procrastinating (one of my many talents), I realised that all the hours of work I had put into this blog was potentially about to be flushed down the blogging drain. Passionately, I have worked up the right attitude to dedicate myself back to my blog. I am going to get back onto my one post a week schedule and commit to it. I apologise to everyone who regularly read my blog and expected a post from me of which I couldn't deliver.

Now with all the deep things out of the way, I think it would be a good time for a bit of an update.

About 2 months ago I was told something that literally meant quite a lot to me. Although it wouldn't mean a lot to anyone else, this made me feel so warm and aspirational. During one of my art lessons last term, my teacher came up to me, picked up my drawings and stared at them. I'm making this sound like a dramatic scene in a movie aren't I? Anyway. She told me that my drawings were nice or something which was such a compliment, but the thing that really stood out for me was this. My art teacher told me that I was a designer in the making. Literally after I typed that my tummy got a weird feeling hahahah. Becoming a designer or working somewhere amongst the fashion industry is a dream I have literally had all my life. Even when I was little my Mum would notice the little details and things I noticed in clothing or even just a sign on the side of the street. When I was little my Mum would often take me to Pumpkin Patch because I was probably nagging her about it. She said I always knew exactly what I liked and what I didn't and that I had a large fascination for the shoe section. I think I can say Pumpkin Patch was one of my favourite places in the world during that stage of my life. From then on to yr 7, when I would draw myself living in Paris with a baby blue Vespa and running my own label, to now when I'm regularly designing any little thing that comes to mind on a free printable from google images, I think this dream has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. Although I do not take fashion design at school there is a reason for that. As strange as it sounds, and as argumentative as it could be, I didn't think I needed to "learn" fashion at school. I do REALLY want to go to design school, and maybe not taking fashion was a bad idea in some aspects, but I think starting off a business with no academic experience can be just as successful. As mean as this sounds, learning how to design with people who didn't actually aspire to be in fashion industry didn't appeal to me and still really doesn't. Fashion is a part of my life I feel so passionately about and I'm sure is the same with millions if not billions of other people in the world. I think the only people that realise my admiration for fashion is my parents. My parents show a lot of trust in my opinion when it comes to fashion. They will often ask me "do I look good?", "Does this look alright?" or even just straight up "WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?". It makes me feel happy knowing that my parents trust me to know what looks good and what doesn't. But anyway, when my teacher told me this, I can't say that I could reply to her with anything other than "aha thank you" as well as a subtle blush on my cheeks. But I know now that what I could reply to her with is something similar to this paragraph if not, more.

That got long oh my gosh.

On a bit of a less deep note, I'm currently in Wanaka on a skiing trip. The snow hasn't been so good, but my skiing has! I'm am so proud because I can confidently go down blue runs with parallels now which is such a big deal for me. People who ski will probably laugh at that but who cares. The past week of skiing has been a lot of fun and I can't wait to go to Telluride in January as well as L.A (!!!).

Im trying to think of things to update you on and I just remembered something. I'm thinking of organising some outfit posts soon, so hopefully I will get around to doing that! Stay tuned...

I think this is around the end of this post, but I just want to apologise one more time for my lack of efforts towards blogging recently. As Maya Angelou said, "All great achievements require time".

Xx

a little change

25 March 2014

Hello

So recently I have been reviewing my blog and its design, and I've decided that it didn't represent me and my style the way I wanted it to so therefore, I have changed my blog around a little bit!

The changes aren't huge but in a bloggers eyes they will be.

A blog should be something that reflects you and before I changed my design, I didn't feel that it did that. I now feel that I have an independent design and one that really reflects my style. My style is very simple and now I feel that completely reflects onto my blogs new design.

Another thing I'm trying to change around a bit is the quality of my posts. In the past, whilst trying to keep up with the weekly post routine I would create a post which wasn't very good and just quick thing I could whip up in 30 minutes.

I am now going to make sure all my posts are well thought out as well as being 100% fashion and design related. I am hopefully going to start doing outfit posts which will be so exciting!

I hope you guys are liking my new design and are excited for what my blog will have to offer in the future.

11 March 2014

Hello

For today's post I have 10 facts you all probably don't know about me! I thought I would make a post about this because I feel like my viewers should get to know who I am and what I am like a bit more.

Here we go...

1 // Before I started this blog I started one called "Style By India" (not available for reading anymore)

2 // I am a European Citizen

3 // I only have 3-4 exams at the end of this year! (woohoo)

4 // My favourite subjects are art and product & spatial design

5 // I do Ballet and Jazz

6 // I was born on June 26th 1999

7 // Last year I went skiing in Wanaka and fell off the chair lift

8 // I have never broken a bone (touchwood)

9 // I think I have a slight case of OCD (probably not)

10 // When I was around 4 years old I would listen to Avril Lavigne and want to become an "Emo" when I grew up (that is not an ambition of mine anymore).

And that's 10 facts about me! Hope you enjoyed this!

update // two sorts of run-ways

4 March 2014

Hello

I know it wasn't very long ago when I did an update post but I have few very exciting things going on the near months!

At the end of this month I am going to be running the happiest 5k in the world... the Colour Run! I'm going to be running this with my friends and I am ecstatic! I know the thought of running doesn't sound all that great, but it makes it so much better when you're being splattered with colour! The run is also so cool because you get given free t-shirts and sweatbands which will be such a cool way to remember the run!

And as if the near future couldn't get any better... I am going to Wellington Fashion Week in April! I have never been to a fashion show in my life so this will be such a milestone for me! On the 9th of April my friends and I will being going to the Moochi A/W Showcase and i'm almost lost for breath. Attending a fashion show has always been a dream of mine so when I had the opportunity to do so, there was no way I was saying no. I couldn't be happier.

So as you can tell I've got a few exciting events coming up in the near months. But to balance out the good, we then have the bad. I have my first NCEA internal assessment on friday and it's MATHS (ugh). I'm really nervous for this so hopefully all goes well! I'm also in the middle of an art internal which is also a bit nerve wracking. But art is one of my favourite subjects so it makes the task that little bit easier.

Hope you enjoyed this little update and I will definitely be posting some pictures from the Colour Run and Moochi Fashion Show.

Photo does not belong to me.

5 tips to school survival

28 January 2014
Hello

Since the Summer Holidays are coming to an end, and kids all around Australia and New Zealand are dreading the fact that they have to go back to school, I thought the time was right to create a School Survival Guide!

In this Survival Guide I will give you 5 main tips in to keeping sane during this School year!

Lets get to it...

1 / / Organise your desk

An organised desk is such a priority you need to keep in tact! Organised desks can make your time doing homework so much nicer as it allows you to have space and (for me) creates a more peaceful feel. Good ways to organise your desk are file holders, pen/pencil holders or anything you may need to keep in one specific place!

As well as keeping your desk organised, it wouldn't kill anyone to style it up. I have a few photos below (off Pinterest) of some desks I found that might give you some inspiration.

2 / / Wall planners

Wall planners are an item I have found I will definately be needing this year as I am heading into NCEA for the first time therefore, my timetable is going to be pretty hectic!

Wall planners, as well as Diaries, are a great way to plan a head of your schedule and get ready for any sort of assignments or special dates you have planned.

This year I have got my hands on the FREE (!!!) Frankie Magazine wall planner in the latest issue! The Frankie Mag wall planner is stunning and can really help you start you off the year in style!

The Frankie Mag wall planner was featured in my last post so click here to check that out.

3 / / Early nights

I find having an early nights sleep is such a good way to end your day whether it have been a busy day or not. Just to have a fresh and well rested body when you wake up in the morning is such a reward.

During the holidays I was having late nights from as late as 10:30-11, which I know isn't late for some but for me that is pretty late! So when I was coming closer to the start of school I decided I needed to build a better sleeping pattern. Sleeping patterns can take a while to adjust to but as long as you have a specific bed time, you should be starting to fall asleep at an earlier time more often.

4 / / Reminders

If you're at school somedays and you don't have your diary within reach I find making reminders on your phone very handy!

Now, if you're one of those people who think they will remember that stupid assignment from History but then don't, this is the tip for you! Making reminders on your phone are so handy as you can create a specific time and date for your phone to remind you on. This can be useful for assignments, tests you need to study on or anything else important!

If you don't like the default reminder app on your phone, if you have an iPhone or Android i'm sure there is some sort of reminding app you can purchase on your phone.

5 / / Organise your backpack

Having an organised backpack is such an important part of my time at school. For me, I have a specific way my bag is packed and that is how it stays. Now this might sound a bit OCD? But it honestly makes your log searches through your bag 100 times quicker.

If you have pockets in your backpack, designate them to specific things such as lip balms and gum, or wallet and keys. Things like these can make your time at school feel so much quicker and organised.

I hope these tips have given you some help to getting back into the school spirit! But for now i'll see you next time.

new year... new goals | 2014

31 December 2013

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I can't believe how fast 2013 went by... so bring it on 2014

In this post I will recap on 2013, and also talk about he future aka. 2014

2013 // OVERVIEW

2013 has so far been one of the best years of my life. As well as doing well in school (sorta), and travelling to places like New York (!!), starting my blog has been a highlight of my year. Although my blog may have not rocketed off to stardom yet, I hope to see big things happen for it in the future. 2013 has also been good for me as I have made so many new friends and experienced so many new experiences.

2014 // GOALS

In 2014, I hope to see my blog become something it's truly worthy of. I would love for my blog to reach 100 followers and for myself to start doing more outfit posts as I think they draw more attention to viewers.

Other goals I hope to achieve are passing level 1 NCEA, doing well at pointe in ballet, and overall have a fantastic year!

Hope you enjoyed this post and have a fantabulous 2014!

Be sure to message me on my ask.fm with some of your New Year's Resolutions.

festive touch

13 December 2013

Hold up.

Christmas is 11 days away.

I don't think words will describe my excitement.

Jingle bells, jingle bells…

Anyways, to get in the Christmas spirit I thought I would share with you all some of the Christmas decorations in my bedroom. I love to decorate for Christmas so I always try and make sure my room is looking as festive as possible.

Hope you enjoyed this post, and hopefully it gave you some inspiration too!

Thanks guys xx

Oh and if you're wondering why I have a full size Christmas tree in my bedroom, it's because the whole bottom floor of our house is being constructed on so there is no other place to put it but in my room.

If you have any questions about where any of the products shown are from, email me or send me a question on my ask.fm.

instagram photos

14 November 2013

Instagram. If i'll be quite honest, I think it's the most popular social media site to this day. I use Instagram a lot and it is probably my favourite app to use! Instagram is a good way to express any feelings you want to express. Whether they be good feelings or bad that is the question (Shakespeare reference hehe).

Heres a mix of some of my favourite Instagram posts. Make sure to follow me @yeahitsindi

lorde vs. katy perry

7 October 2013

Katy Perry has always been known for individual and outrageous style. From California Girls to Roar, Katy Perry's identity has varied in many ways. But what if Katy Perry's style is almost a mirror image of someone else's. Like most other artists, they tend to have an inspiration whether it be someone like Rambo or Audrey Hepburn (first people that came to mind haha). It may be common for an artist/singer/song writer to do that, but not if the inspiration be another artist/singer/song writer.

Lorde. Lorde is a New Zealand artist recently come to fame, with almost 4 top hits in both New Zealand and America. Just like Katy Perry, Lordes style is very individual. But not so much anymore. Ever since Lordes international debut, Katy Perry has asked Lorde to open for her concert (which Lorde turned down) and made some pretty big alterations to her style. With Katys new album releasing soon, and a new perfume just released, Katy has turned from a girl in candy suits, to one in designer jewels and crowns.

If you have a scroll through pics of Lorde you will notice her independant 'Gothic chic' sense of style. Now then if you search through recent pics of Katy Perry, you will notice the similarities in what they wear. This has only ever just occurred due to Lordes big appearance in the music industry about 5-6 months ago.

But in conclusion, Katy, stop copying Lorde.
